Pancakes and Protein Shakes

Whey to go?
So you see all the gym buffs strutting around with their shakers filled with these colourful liquids. And your thinking hmmm I need to get me one of those! Or do I? Or, will I put on weight or turn into Arnie over night?

Here is the lowdown!

Protein shakes are.... exactly what they say on the tin, they are a protein supplement.  Protein is one of the three macro-nutrients our body needs daily to maintain growth and repair.

Now there is nothing in these bad boys that you cant get from food. But many people struggle on a modern carb processed diet to get their daily requirements. This is where a shake comes in handy. Of course I would rather you tuck into a nice grilled bit of chicken but these are perfect for on the go, or just after you train.

Your average whey protein can add around 20g protein to your daily intake.
So why is it so popular with us gym folk? because as mentioned before this magical macro nutrient supports growth and repair, which will aid in your goals to build or tone the body you desire.

PANCAKES:


Another amazing bonus is you can cook some amazing sweet treats with whey protein. Which will statisfy any sweet tooth, whilst eating clean.

  • Add 1 scoop protein powder
  • Mix in 1 egg white
  • Add just a splash of almond/hazelnut or coconut milk to make a thick paste
  • Grease pan
  • Cook for two mins on each time
Top with almond butter/peanut butter or fruit.

It's FREEZING!

Hey beautiful people,

So its FREEZING in London and as much as i would love to hibernate until June and eat my own body weight carbolious foods! I will not! Neither should you! 

So winter is crap in my eyes you can hide tummies under jumpers, your feeling cold, tired and motivation is at its lowest due to said factors, a binge eaters dream! So lets somehow try and turn winter into a positive and try and follow my winter survival guide

  • BIG Jumpers are not designed to be filled out - Just because your clothes are more forgiving, does not mean your diet can be, do you REALLY want that whole regime of getting to spring again... jeans or last years summer clothes not fitting... back on the diet? not really, you know how long it takes.
  • USE Winter as your secret mission.... like i do... Winter is boring for most except polar bears and reindeer... no pub gardens.. nice warm days out... all rain and snow boooo... so use this time instead of self proclaimed wish for hibernation to get FIT like unbelievably fit.... use the time to train harder, whilst everyone else is expanding nicely into above mentioned jumpers, smash it. Gym will be hellish in Jan but all the part timers will be gone two weeks in trust me :) So when Spring does come and all your friends are breaking the seams on there skirts and going on the new 'I'm going to eat one pea and a marshmallow a day' diet. your like BAM!! Already there!!

  • Get inventive with your clean eats!! I love a healthy winter stew, find something a bit more warming than your chicken salad, get online, lets get seasonal.

So...
Here we go....


I have promised my partner in crime (my social media buddy, Alice) I shall become an absolute blogger.... Considering I struggle to update my Facebook status more than once a month, this could be interesting.


So, that aside, thank you for visiting my site. I am going to start with a bit about myself and why I do what I do. My name is Linda and I am a 27 year old personal trainer working in South West London.

I have spent the last ten years of my life serving for Her Majesty's Armed Forces, even though I had the time  of my life, I decided it was time for me to settle in one place and do something I was even more passionate about. I would love to say this is the part where I tell you I have been a 'into fitness my whole life' or ' I am the Olympic javelin runner up 1972' ... afraid not. About ten years ago I did not even own a pair of trainers, overweight with no clue about fitness and thought if I had salad with my kebab on a Friday night I was being healthy, eventually peer pressure found me, I let a few harsh comments get the better of me, then three years later I got diagnosed with severe Bulimia Nervosa.  My warped vision on my body, my health and everyone else's perception led me into self-destruct, my wake up call came four years later when the doctor kindly informed me if I carried on the way I was going I would be dead by 30.

So some might say my gym obsession started out as a coping method in my recovery process, maybe it still is. Walking in the gym the first time not knowing a thing 20 times more paranoid than most, leaving in tears because I felt everyone was staring at me, thinking is it because I am fat? Is it because I am doing this wrong? (In all fairness I was 6 1/2 stone at the time.... see warped!!) But the more I have learnt about fitness and nutrition the more and more I meet my clients (which I have to brag, are probably the most amazing group I could wish for) who are constantly coming through the door too worried to venture off the cross trainer, never mind go within 10 feet of the testosterone pit that is the weights bay...therefore will never reach their full goals or potential, all because they are worried what people may think or that they don't know what they doing. It’s such a shame.

My goal is to make sure every person I train has that 100% confidence by the time we are done to step into that gym, no worries, and feel comfortable and competent and love the skin there in.

So now that's the long part out the way I look forward to sharing my days, workouts and nutritional advice with your lovely selves.
